100th Day Celebration

We had our 100th Day of School Celebration Wednesday. Originally it was scheduled for last Friday, but snow days postponed it until Wednesday. Which was a 2 hour delay day. Looking back, I should not have even attempted to fit everything in with 2 hours less than usual. Plus, my parent volunteers did not show up.

For the record, if you are a parent who reads this and your child's teacher sends out newsletters that include dates for class parties and sign up sheets, just give her a hand! I don't want parents in there because I feel like giving them a mental breakdown, I need them in there because I'm only one person, and I can't do all the fun stuff the other kindergartens do unless I have some help. It's that simple. I love when parents do show up to help and they say things like, "I don't know how you do this by yourself" and all they are doing is monitoring the painting center. But, I am always incredibly greatful for those parents who do show up - on to the party.

I had this PowerPoint up on screen when they walked in. We love PPT's and do a lot of fun things on there.

The kids got there at 9:30 so I had until 11:00 to get A LOT done. Plus, let's face it. They were NUTS. Snow still on the ground. At school late. Our schedule is all crazy. It was gonna be a challenge. So between 9:30 and 11:00 we did 100 exercises - like 10 jumping jacks, 10 lunges, etc. Then we rested for 100 seconds. Nice. :)

I had booklets made for each of them. Each book had 10 pages in it that needed 10 things on it. 10 stickers, 10 stamps, 10 letters, etc. This was HARD! I had the children into groups of 5 and they rotated to 4 different tables. Each table had different items to do the different pages. I had to go around and make sure they were working on the right pages, not putting stickers on the shapes page and such. It was so hard for them to wait on me to double check their pages. They were not patient that day. We ended up getting the booklets done just in time for lunch. SCORE!

While they were at lunch I hid 100 Hershey kisses around the classroom. When they got back in they went by groups to find ONE kiss and bring it back. This was fun and they LOVED hunting down the chocolates. I put numbers 1-100 on the bottoms of each of them, so when they found them they would tell me the number and we marked it off with an Expo marker. When it was all finished, they got to take the chocolates home!

I hid them EVERYWHERE!

I also got the kidney table set up for 100th Day Snack. The kids each got a graph paper with a picture of a certain snack at the top of each row. They were to put one piece of snack in each square and when they were completely finished they had 100 pieces of snack. They loved this!

The snack was made up of M&M's, Skittles, Goldfish, Marshmallows, Jelly Beans, Raisins, Pretzel Sticks, Chocolate Chips, Candy Corn, and Cheerios.

The snack was done during center rotation. They made snack, painted a picture of a tree that had 100 apples on it, made a 100th Day of School crown, and worked on a "I can eat 100 ____" book.

At the end of the day we watched 101 Dalmations and had our 100th Day Snack. When it was time to go home, I was relieved! It was all over. And we did it all. And I was TIRED! Ha!

Hope everyone is enjoying Super Bowl Sunday! I'll have my Peyton jersey on later. GO COLTS!
