Well, I figured if I wanna keep myself updated on my blog I should join some of these weekly topics.
I don't really think much about baby names, I've never really had to. I only know that growing up as Jessica D. because there was also Jessica E., Jessica R., Jessica C., and Jessica S. got really old. I have grown to love my name, but I went through phases where I HATED it and just wanted to change it. So, I know that I will put a lot of thought into my future children's names and not go with what was most popular at the time.
I actually like names that are unisex. Names like Quinn, Addison, Kendall, Reagan, Mason, and Zane can be perfect for a little girl or boy. Just think of the FUN you could have if you decided on a name but wanted the gender to be secret!? I have told JD that I like James for a girl and he flips out - literally. And, sorry, Ann, but I LOVE Hunter for a girl name.
I do not like the "Ayden" names that are so popular right now. All the variations, Brayden, Cayden, Hayden, Jayden, just....no.
So, I guess if I had to pick my top 2 girl and boy names I would narrow it down to these:
1. Olivia, Amelia, and Evelyn - Okay, I can count and I realize it's 3 not 2, but I can't pick a favorite of these 3. I like older names, they are just classy and timeless. You could name any of these with Faith, Joy, Hope, and Grace. I like those combos.
2. Brody, Mason and Drake. Again, can't narrow it down to 2?! I don't really know why I like these two. I just think they are unique and strong names.
I think I like so many names because I spend so much time around kiddos and I can see how a wonderful personality can make or break a name. There are a few names that have just been ruined for me by knowing someone with that name. You have any names that are just automatic vetoes?
Evelyn is Mimi's name! I love it. I also really like Brody, but I dont think Stu would let me pick that one.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that we only have girls as well...I have a few "secret" names picked out. I think that I want to keep the name a secret until he/she is born though.
