Uhhh...Where's that Snow?

Ok, I know I shouldn't complain because after all, we are out of school today. But, for what? It was colder than this when we went back on Tuesday! Yesterday I was sooo excited for a snow day. I instructed the kiddos to wear their pajamas inside out to bring us luck and I was all set with my own routine. A sweet 1st grade teacher sent down a stuffed penguin named "Snow Bird" with instructions attached to rub his belly and wish for snow. I mean, we were pulling out all the tricks in the book. The kids sensed it too. If you spend enough time around small children you will begin to notice that they have an internal sensor that goes off and makes them crazy when certain events are about to happen. These events vary from the major like holidays and weather, to minor like the moon's position and gas price fluxuation.

So, last night we went out to eat at Demo's for Abby's 1st birthday! Happy Birthday, Girl!! As we were chowing down I get a call from a number I don't recognize. Typically, I would let this go straight to voicemail. I've had experiences answering those calls and being stuck on the phone for 30 minutes with parents (or grandparents) who don't realize I have a life outside of the school. Yesterday, though, I felt it in my bones! I answered and it was the most glorious 15 seconds on the phone! A recorded message to tell me school would be out. YIPPEEEE! I'm gonna get to sleep in!

Well, this morning when I woke up at 7 and looked outside and saw nothing, I was just thinking maybe it would take a while to get here. It's noon now and still nothing. So that means tomorrow we'll be back in school. For one day before the weekend. And since the schedule was messed up from yesterday it will be a crazy day. Ican'twaitthatwillsurebeablast...

But, tonight I can still flush 3 ice cubes down the toilet, wear my pajamas backward, place a spoon under my pillow and put a white crayon in the freezer. Right?
