Today I began The Master Cleanse. The cleanse takes at least 10 days and is supposed to help clean out all of the toxins and bad things in your body. Of course, while on the cleanse, I cannot eat solid foods. My only intake will be a salt water flush in the mornings, a lemonade/maple syrup/cayenne pepper drink during the day and a herbal laxative tea at night.
Beyonce said she did MC when she was filming the movie "Dreamgirls". She said she lost 20 pounds in 10 days. That is not a goal of mine, and I think it's a big fat fib. Weight loss is sure to be a side effect and it will be welcomed gladly! My main goal is to get a better grasp on my cravings and to have a healthier outlook towards food.
Last night I started the cleanse with my first cup of laxative tea. It really wasn't too bad. The flavor was light and it was nice an warm. JD said it made my breath stink, though.
This morning I'm trying to chug down the SWF. It's 32 ounces of water and 2 teaspoons sea salt. It's not pleasant and so far I've only gotten down 22 ounces. I'm drinking big gulps through a straw so I'm hoping that I'll get it all down within the next 10 minutes. It's supposed to "flush" me out within the next hour or so.
I premade my lemonades for today. It took 4 lemons to make 12 tablespoons of lemonade! I didn't buy enough lemons for the 10 days! Also, it took 12 tablespoons of maple syrup this morning. I had to buy organic grade B syrup, which didn't come cheap and I've already used over half the bottle! The cayenne pepper is what helps break up all the toxins and I'm curious to see how much of that my body can handle.
My goal is to complete the 10 days, but depending on how I feel I may go longer. You can do the cleanse for up to 40 days without doctor supervision!
While on the cleanse your body changes and a tell tale sign that the cleanse is working is when your tongue is nice and bright and pink. During the first few days it's supposed to get white and yucky and thick and when it clears up to pink that means you've successfully flushed out your system.
Anyways, I am keeping a journal of my start weight and measurements and I'll be checking those each day. FYI, my start weight is 130 and my BMI is 23. 09. Highest ever. As you can see, it's clearly time for a change in my attitude towards food and eating!
Well, now that I have absolutely no shame and shared that info. with you. I'm gonna chug down these last 6 ounces and hopefully feel the urge to "eliminate" soon. All this salt water on my tummy is not feeling so hot!
And not that I really have many visitors or comments, but please don't leave me comments about how crazy this sounds to you or bad you think it is for me. I have researched this heavily for weeks and I know how much I can push my body and when to stop. This is an exciting journey for me and I'll need all the support I can get!
You can do it. I'm already thinking about all those lean cuisines I get to eat. Ha
ReplyDeleteI think you are brave! But if you like it, I might have to borrow that book.
ReplyDeleteHey Jess, Ann was telling me about you doing this and after reading your blog, I may want to try it. I have never done an actual cleanse, but I think I could and would like it, afterwards of course! Sounds like your going to do good in the marathon! Keep up the training!
